About the Artist

Grateful Woodwork is owned and operated by Alex and Alyssa Laarhoven, a husband and wife duo who transformed their passion for woodworking into a small business in 2020.

Nestled in the Appalachian mountains of Western North Carolina, Grateful Woodwork sources its lumber not only from local sawmills but also from fallen trees. Alex and Alyssa see the beauty in wood damaged by insects or diseases and highlight these natural imperfections through their resin work. It is this philosophy of finding elegance in natural decay that underpins the inspiration behind Grateful's art.

Grateful Woodwork is now featured in several art galleries and mom & pop co-ops throughout the Asheville, NC, and Atlanta, GA areas.
